American Armed Forces Executes Lethal Strike in Eastern Pacific, Resulting in Four Fatalities
As stated by a high-ranking defense spokesperson, the US armed forces executed a lethal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the eastern Pacific, killing four individuals.
“A US joint task force carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel linked to a terrorist group in open sea. Intelligence verified the vessel was traveling along a known drug smuggling route and was involved in narco-trafficking operations. All four male narco-terrorists were killed, and no American forces were harmed.”
Background and Prior Strikes
The statement comes a day after an announcement regarding a naval blockade of all targeted oil tankers to and from Venezuela. In that announcement on social media, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, pledging to escalate the military buildup.
Only on the previous day, US defense officials said it had carried out strikes on three boats it accused of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, over 20 strikes have killed at least 99 individuals, most off the coast of Venezuela.
Government Justifies Tactics Amidst Scrutiny
The administration has encountered growing pressure to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. However, officials have declined to do so. The administration has defended its efforts as a success, arguing it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is stretching the limits of legal military action.
Although the administration has said the campaign is about stopping drugs destined for the US, comments from a top official appeared to confirm a broader geopolitical aim. In a recent interview, the senior advisor said the president “wants to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president cries uncle.”
This suggests the series of strikes may be linked to a push to remove Venezuela's sitting government.
